NAC’s 2008 Sexiest Casino: Chinook Winds Casino Resort
It’s Better at the Beach!
Majestically overlooking the Pacific Ocean from the Lincoln City, Ore., shore, the 157,000-square-foot Chinook Winds Casino Resort is Oregon’s premier casino. Owned and operated by the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians of Oregon, the spirit of the tribe is captured in the decor of the facility.
The Confederated Tribe of Siletz is a federally recognized confederation of 27 bands, originating from Northern California to Southern Washington. Termination was imposed upon the Siletz by the U.S. government in 1955. In November 1977, they were the first tribe in the State of Oregon, and the second in the United States, to be fully restored to federal recognition. In 1992, the tribe achieved self-governance, which allows them to compact directly with the U.S. government, giving them control and accountability over their tribal programs and funding. Chinook Winds Casino Resort opened in 1995.
The Casino includes a waterfall flowing to a pond (designed to resemble Euchre Creek, an important area to the Siletz Tribe) where “wishers” can toss their coins for good luck and make a contribution to the tribe’s educational fund. The round lobby and weave design painted on the exterior give tribute to the tribe’s traditional basket-weaving techniques. Salmon decorate many of the interior and exterior areas, a nod to the fish that plays a special and important role in the history of the tribe.
What to Eat
At the Rogue River Steakhouse, the only thing more remarkable than the view is your meal. Sumptuous dinner selections abound with Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb, Coconut Rum Butter Prawns and succulent Prime Rib. The lunch menu includes Chicken Breast Marsala and Dungeness Crab Salad Sandwich. For breakfast, traditional favorites include Smoked Salmon omelets, a Traditional Fry Bread Scramble and Crab Cake Eggs Benedict.
There is after-hours entertainment in the Rogue Lounge. Enjoy a drink, watch a game on the big screen TV, or just sit with friends and enjoy the view of the Pacific Ocean. The lounge is located within the Rogue River dining room on the second floor of the casino.
The Siletz Bay Buffet serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and a seafood buffet on Fridays. Enjoy delicious food in their full-service buffet -- from everyday favorites to a large variety of daily features. They’re busy cooking all day long so you’ll always get fresh food. Plus, beverages and desserts at the dessert bar are included in their low prices. You won’t get that with most other buffets! Traditional American dishes are always a staple, as well as seafood buffets and carved meats (prime rib, turkey and ham). A loaded-omelet station for breakfast is a popular favorite. Soups, breads, a large salad bar and desserts are always available.
Tucked behind the waterfall in the lobby, you will find a deli that serves the best of snack and small meals! Euchre Creek Deli at Chinook Winds Casino is open 24/7 so you can get a quick bite and get back to all the gaming action anytime the mood strikes! Burgers, taco salads, hot and cold sandwiches, pizza, espresso, or just a cup of soup and fry bread; you’ll find it all at The Euchre Creek Deli.
Located at Chinook Winds Golf Resort, Aces Bar & Grill has something for everyone. The atmosphere is for the sports enthusiast who wants to relax, have a good meal and a good time. Good food isn’t the only item on the menu. Watch sports on the big screen TV or just sit with friends and enjoy the view of the golf course. If that isn’t enough, enjoy a good game of shuffle board, darts or try out the new Golf Simulator.
Relax while you dine at the all-new Chinooks Seafood Grill located in the hotel complex. Enjoy the picturesque view while watching the waves crash from your table. Enjoy fresh seafood lovingly prepared by their chefs. Try one of their tempting desserts. The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians and Chinook Winds Casino Resort are proud to announce the addition of an 18-hole golf course: Chinook Winds Golf Resort. Along with the casino, ocean-front hotel and newly constructed RV park, Chinook Winds Casino has become the destination resort on the Central Oregon Coast.
Imagine yourself on the picturesque 18th hole at Pebble Beach Golf Course with the ocean on your left as you tee up on your final hole of the day. Or you may choose to play Pinehurst No. 2, home of the 2005 U.S. Open and host of more Championships than any other course in the United States. The cost to play courses of this caliber would make this once-in-a-lifetime chance unattainable for many amateurs, but no more. For only $20 an hour for golf members and $25 for non-members, the opportunity to play these world-famous courses is at Chinook Winds Golf Resort. With the High Definition Golf Simulator at Aces Bar & Grill, you and your friends can test your skills against some of the toughest courses in America. Other famous courses include Bayhill, Harbor Town, Spyglass Hill and Troon North to name a few. Don’t miss your chance to play these world-renowned courses or just work on your game.
Looking ahead to the future of Chinook Winds Golf Resort, the general three-year plan for the golf course will include taking an executive-level course to a resort level. This will involve increasing the course size to 6,640 yards and the par to 71.
Health & Fitness Membership includes unlimited classes (yoga, belly dancing, step aerobics and “Fit for Life”), Nautilus machines, cardio equipment, racquetball, free weights, locker facilities (including steam rooms, saunas and showers), discounts on tanning and a 20-percent discount on golf greens fees and the practice range.
Childcare
To serve families, the facility includes a Play Palace with secure, supervised childcare available for up to four hours. Pagers are given to parents visiting the casino; however a casino visit is not necessary to use the childcare facilities.
